That should be our mantra for the remainder of 2014—“To Live with Passion!”
What exactly is passion? One definition is: a powerful emotion or appetite, as love, joy, hatred, anger or greed. Another is: boundless enthusiasm.
Viewing a painting can evoke an emotion or emotions and the artist can draw upon emotions to create, whatever the art form is.
Fine Art Oil Painting by Daniel S. Dahlstrom, Chester, Connecticut Artist
“Lynde Point Lighthouse” (Old Saybrook, Connecticut)
And this is Dan’s passion-creating paintings of the lighthouses of Old Saybrook. He has painted the lighthouses in all seasons and different times of day. The creation of this composition came about on an April day-the day we met with our accountant to do the taxes. When we emerged from the building and into the light, we were greeted with this awesome and unbelievable sky. As exhausted and tired as we were (taxes do that) we decided to head to the Lynde Point Lighthouse or also known as the Inner Light, and we hurried because the light was fleeting. Dan’s passion was rising to capture this light and the lighthouse. He always has with him, his camera. He had to photograph the scene because time was of the essence and even if he had his painting gear with him, still no time to capture this light “en plein air” or painting outdoors.
Dan started painting when we got home-this light and colorization of the sky was invigorating, and the result was this painting. The “Lynde Point Lighthouse” is on display and for sale at The Fresh Ayer Gallery, which is located in the Old Lyme Shopping Center, 19 Halls Road, Old Lyme, CT. Their phone is 860.598.9313. Hope you get a chance to stop in and say hello and check out all the wonderful art and gifts!
