Steamboat Dock, Connecticut River Museum, and the Cupola of the Baptist Church in Essex, CT

“Reflections of Steamboat Dock, Essex” is a popular, historic scene in Connecticut, and it is a subject that Dan has always wanted to paint. He was out on a boat with his brother and a friend, when the sun started to set, creating such magnificent colors. Dan just hauled out that camera and started to photograph very quickly to catch the last rays of sunlight.
Everything ended up being bathed in a golden light, almost mystical, and it was so quiet out in the harbor. The goal was to capture the colors and serenity of the water on canvas-it was the perfect ending to a beautiful, boat ride on the Connecticut River.
