About the Artist-

Art by Daniel S. Dahlstrom          Oil Paintings of New England Landscapes                                    Oil Paintings of New England Seascapes                                  Oil Paintings of Still Life

I Reception at Venetucci Gallery The Gallery of Fine Art @ Venetucci Home featured  "Etherea", which was part of my "Great Atmosphere" collection. This was one of my first receptions, and was very enjoyable.  Since that time, I have had numerous receptions, performed many demonstrations and was the featured artist at libraries, which is something that I love doing and look forward to future events.  And I just realized that all the paintings displayed here have sold, and are in good homes.

Studying  the Connecticut River and Connecticut Shoreline is one of  my passions, and then capturing the atmosphere and all its nuances, of the water, on canvas. Watching the subtle play of light and shadow at dawn and dusk, is part of my creative process, and then using my brushes to relate what I envision.

I invite the viewer to become part of my seascapes and landscapes and transport themselves to the colors and tranquility of nature, and feel as if they are part of the painting and can just walk in.

  OUR ART BUSINESS

Daniel S. Dahlstrom, Artist

  "I just love to paint!"

(Doing a Demo at the Gilded Lily, Milford, Connecticut)

My art career started in the family business, Dahlstroms Paint and Wallpaper, when I was a young boy working in the store. It was located in Essex, CT where I grew up and developed my love for the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound. We spent many enjoyable hours out on the boat, and thus began my fascination with the water.

During my 25 plus years at the store, my position was the paint colorist and to work with the customers developing paint colors to their specifications.

When the family business closed its' doors, this provided an opportunity for me to apply paint from walls to canvas. After experimenting with watercolors, acrylic, and oils, my choice of medium became oils because of its'creaminess and texture. I have also recently discovered that I enjoy working in pastels--I will be using more of this medium in the future.  Stay tuned and see what I come up with!

My studies of art have brought me to the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Ct., becoming a student of Jerry Weiss, Roland Becerrra, and David Dewey. My teachers have also been the Tracy Art Center, which was located in Old Saybrook, CT., Rob DeBartolo ,owner of Riverside Fine Arts Gallery in Essex, CT. and  Fomer President of the Essex Art Association, and Leif Nilsson, owner of the Spring Street Studio and Gallery in Chester, CT.  It has been very enjoyable working with these fine artists, and developing my style and craft.

My memberships in Art Associations, include Essex and Lyme.

My membership with the Essex Art Association is as an Elected Artist, and I am very honored to have this designation

Presently, I am a member of the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce, Middletown, CT, and am very pleased being part of this wonderful organization.

Just recently, I was commissioned to do a special birthday gift and have been painting up a storm. The present was very well received.

Lyme Art Association is currently working with the Old Lyme Country club, and I had several pieces on display there, and was very excited to see my work there!

The Essex Art Association is working with the Corinthian Yacht Club, Essex, Connecticut and I have two pieces on display there.  In the past, I have sold several of my paintings through this venue.

I have a lecture series, that is presented to Assisted Living facilities and local organizations-"Mood of the Moment" (Art Appreciation), and have thoroughly enjoyed demonstrating this program.  Hoping they are enjoying this program, as much as I enjoy talking about it.

Also, am currently giving private and group lessons, which has been very fullfilling. I learn from my students as I teach.  Let us know if you are interested in art lessons.

Please feel free to contact me, I am happy to hear from you.
